Canadians are proud of the advances they have made in the mining field, with operators big and small discovering exceptional finds.

The latest example is provided by Vancouver-based Falcon Gold Corp. (TSX-Venture:FG) which announced Tuesday the commencement of drilling on its Central Canada Gold Project.

The program is designed to target a significant induced polarization anomaly interpreted by Terra-X Minerals Ltd. 2010 ground geophysics survey which extends 200 metres along strike of the Central Canada mineralized zone which has sampled up to 44 g/t Au over two metres.

Central Canada is located in northwestern Ontario, approximately 20 kilometres east of Atikokan, and about 160 km west of Thunder Bay.

Gold mineralization can be traced across the Central Canada structure, interpreted as a large splay along the Quetico Fault Zone. With more recent drilling by Interquest Resources Corp. intersecting over one metre @ approximately 30 g/t gold in diamond drill core and 23.3 meters @ 0.83 g/t gold and 10.61m @ 1.32 g/t gold in 2012 by Terra-X Minerals.

FG shares gained half a cent, or 14.3%, to four cents, on volume of 2.9 million shares.
