Claim staking that locks open ground along interpreted structural corridors before geophysics and mapping is how early-stage epithermal gold names try to keep optionality ahead of drill targeting. When the new ground sits on the continuation of a named trend and soils are already in the bag, the expansion reads as a targeting move, not just acreage for its own sake. 

Toogood Gold Corp. (TSX-Venture: TGC) (OTCQB: TGGCF) advanced Monday after announcing it staked 44 additional BLM lode claims at its Table Mountain gold-silver project in Lincoln County, Nevada.

The new claims cover about 368 ha and lift Table Mountain to 228 claims totalling 1,902 ha. Management says the staking captures extensions of priority arcuate structural corridors, including the Widowmaker Trend, and secures more than 10km of cumulative interpreted strike length along Widowmaker and a subparallel corridor. Reconnaissance soil geochemistry is already done on the new ground, with 166 samples collected for integration with mapping, prospecting, LiDAR and geophysics.

Phase 2 is set to start in July: about 20 line-kilometres of CSAMT with Zonge International aimed at resistivity contrasts tied to structures, silicification, alteration and fluid pathways, plus targeted prospecting and rock sampling with Big Rock Exploration across priority corridors and the broader alteration footprint. CEO Colin Smith framed the expansion as securing high-priority ground for immediate evaluation as the company defines the low-sulphidation epithermal system at Table Mountain.

Next catalysts are Phase 2 CSAMT and soil/rock results that can turn the Widowmaker corridors into ranked drill targets.

Shares of TGC / TGGCF rose 13.0% and 1.9% to C$0.13 and US$0.082, respectively.
